Detroit Catholic Central High School

Ryan Rogowski ‘02

Ryan Rogowski ‘02

On Tuesday, October 13th, on Al Moran ’57 Field at Detroit Catholic Central’s Fr. Martin baseball Complex, Ryan Rogowski ‘02 was named the new head baseball coach of the Shamrocks in front of players, families, and friends. Coach Rogowski will add to the lineage of good men and coaches to lead the baseball program in CC’s storied tradition dating back to 1928.

Coach Rogowski, a 3-sport athlete and 2x State Champion at Catholic Central, has been coaching baseball since completing his professional baseball career with the LA Dodgers AA affiliate in 2009. Ryan has served as the Assistant Director of Baseball Operations for Legacy baseball as well as head coach at Pinckney High School.  Coach Rogowski currently runs his own organization, Rogo’s Warriors, where he continues to share his knowledge and passion for the game.

During his career at Catholic Central, Ryan was a three sport captain and earned all-State honors in football, wrestling, and baseball. Coach Rogowski continued his baseball career in college at the University of Illinois, where he was a 2 year letter winner and a member of the 2006 All-Big Ten First team.  He was then drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers being named to the 2006 Baseball America All-Star team.

An extensive interview process provided the Catholic Central Baseball Coach search committee the ability to interact with some great mentors and baseball minds from around the state.  Coach Rogowski’s commitment to his family, faith, and the young men he has coached, combined with his strong interpersonal and communication skills, set him apart.

One of the key factors in the search for a new head coach are the Basilian charisms of Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge, which are developed through authentic relationships between students and staff.  As a Detroit Catholic Central alum, it became apparent early in the process that Ryan Rogowski possesses the proven ability to lead change and build collaborative relationships by being a versatile and responsive leader.  As a mentor and coach, he will undoubtedly lead our program into the future with nothing but the best intentions for our school, our community, and our Shamrocks.
